Senior Portrait Spotlight: Ian Olsen https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2024/10/senior-portrait-spotlight-ian-olsen As the youngest of the Olsen family, Ian has some big shoes to fill! Having already captured stunning senior portraits for his older siblings, Lance and Lauren, it was exciting to finally photograph Ian and celebrate his own unique journey.

Ian is a dynamic, energetic young man who brings a lively spirit wherever he goes. His passion for skateboarding and football truly shines through in his personality and interests, making him a perfect subject for some fun and modern senior portraits. We chose the San Jose Rotunda as our backdrop, which offered a contemporary vibe that matched Ian’s active lifestyle.

Capturing Ian's Energy

From the moment we began the shoot, Ian's enthusiasm was infectious. Whether he was striking a pose or showcasing his skateboarding skills, his athleticism and charisma were evident in every shot. We had a blast exploring different angles and settings around the Rotunda, which provided a stunning architectural contrast to Ian's vibrant energy.

A Modern Twist

The San Jose Rotunda was the perfect choice for this shoot. Its sleek lines and contemporary aesthetic complemented Ian's style beautifully. We aimed to capture not just his physical attributes but also the essence of who he is—a fun-loving, adventurous spirit ready to take on the world.

A Family Tradition

It’s always a pleasure to see how each sibling brings their own unique flair to the portraits. Ian, like Lance and Lauren, has a distinct style that sets him apart, yet you can definitely see the family resemblance. Being the last of the Olsens to have his senior portraits taken feels like closing a chapter on a beautiful family tradition, and I’m honored to have been a part of each of their journeys.

Final Thoughts

Ian, you have a bright future ahead, filled with opportunities and adventures. Thank you for allowing me to capture this special milestone in your life. I can’t wait to see where your passions for skateboarding and football take you next!

Here’s to a fantastic senior year and all the amazing things that await you after graduation!

Erika & Matt’s Enchanting Denver Wedding: A Love Story at Wedgewood Weddings in Littleton https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2024/9/erika-matt-s-enchanting-denver-wedding-a-love-story-at-wedgewood-weddings-in-littleton On July 5th, 2024, Erika and Matt tied the knot at the picturesque Wedgewood Weddings venue in Littleton, Colorado—a perfect setting for their love story that began in the Rockies.

Their journey started in May 2021 when they met at a bar in Colorado Springs. Matt, a soldier stationed at Fort Carson, and Erika, a PA student visiting friends, felt an immediate connection. Despite the challenge of Matt’s deployment just a few months into their relationship, their love only deepened. Erika's unwavering support and Matt’s dedication made their bond unbreakable.

After Matt’s return and Erika’s graduation from PA school, the couple took a memorable trip to London, where Matt proposed. Now based in Oklahoma with Matt serving as a Battery Commander and Erika working as a PA, they chose Denver for their wedding to celebrate the city where their story began.

The wedding at Wedgewood Weddings in Littleton was a dream come true, combining elegance with the breathtaking beauty of Colorado. From the emotional vows to the joyous celebrations, every moment reflected their deep love and connection.

Congratulations to Erika and Matt on their beautiful wedding day. Your story is a testament to the power of love and resilience, and we’re grateful to have been a part of capturing your special moments. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness and adventure!

Preparing for Your Engagement Photo Shoot: What to Wear and How to Prepare https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2023/3/preparing-for-your-engagement-photo-shoot-what-to-wear-and-how-to-prepare Your engagement photo shoot is an important milestone in your journey towards marriage. It's a great opportunity to capture beautiful images of you and your partner in a natural and relaxed setting. To make the most of your session, here are some tips on how to prepare and what to wear.

Preparing for Your Engagement Photo Shoot:

  1. Choose the right time and location: Consider the time of day and location that you choose for your shoot. If you're shooting outdoors, you may want to consider the time of day when the light is soft and warm, such as early morning or late afternoon. Your photographer can advise you on the best time and location to capture beautiful images.

  2. Get plenty of rest: Make sure you get enough sleep the night before your shoot, so you look fresh and relaxed in your photos.

  3. Hydrate: Staying hydrated is important, especially if you're shooting outside or during the warmer months. Be sure to bring a water bottle or other hydrating beverages to your shoot.

  4. Consider hair and makeup: If you're planning on having hair and makeup done, make sure to schedule appointments well in advance of your shoot date.

  5. Relax and have fun: Remember that your engagement photo shoot is a fun and memorable experience. Try to relax and enjoy the moment, and your photos will reflect your happiness.

What to Wear:

  1. Coordinate your outfits: When choosing what to wear, make sure your outfits coordinate with each other. This doesn't mean you have to match exactly, but your colors and styles should complement each other.

  2. Dress for the location: Consider the location where you'll be shooting when choosing your outfits. If you're shooting in a park, for example, you may want to wear something casual and comfortable.

  3. Avoid busy patterns: Avoid busy patterns or logos, as they can be distracting in photos. Instead, opt for solid colors or subtle prints.

  4. Accessorize: Consider adding accessories such as scarves, hats, or jewelry to add interest to your outfit.

  5. Dress for the season: Dress appropriately for the season. For example, if you're shooting in the fall, consider wearing warm layers and boots.

In conclusion, preparing for your engagement photo shoot is an important step in capturing beautiful and lasting memories. By following these tips on how to prepare and what to wear, you'll be able to relax, have fun, and enjoy the moment. Remember, the most important thing is to be yourself and let your love for each other shine through in your photos. Don't forget to stay hydrated and bring a water bottle or other hydrating beverages to your shoot, especially if you're shooting outside or during the warmer months.

Mastering Studio Techniques for Fashion Photography: Tips and Tricks https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2023/2/mastering-studio-techniques-for-fashion-photography-tips-and-tricks Fashion photography is a creative and exciting field that requires a combination of technical skill and artistic vision. Shooting fashion photography in a studio setting can provide a controlled environment for capturing the perfect shot. Here are a few tips and tricks for shooting fashion photography in a studio.

  1. Lighting: Lighting is one of the most important elements of fashion photography. Studio lighting allows you to control the direction, intensity, and color of light to create the perfect mood for your shot. Experiment with different lighting setups to find the one that works best for your model and clothing.

  2. Background: The background of your shot is just as important as the model and clothing. Choose a background that complements the clothing and doesn't detract from the overall image. A plain colored background is a safe choice, but you can also use textured or patterned backgrounds to add interest to your shot.

  3. Posing: Posing is crucial in fashion photography. The model's pose should be natural and comfortable, but also expressive and dynamic. Work with your model to find the right poses that showcase the clothing to its best advantage.

  4. Props: Props can add an extra dimension to your fashion photography. Use props that complement the clothing and add interest to the shot. Be careful not to use too many props, as this can detract from the overall image.

  5. Post-processing: Post-processing is an important step in fashion photography. Use software such as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop to adjust the color, contrast, and brightness of your images. Remove any blemishes or unwanted elements from the shot.

Shooting fashion photography in a studio setting can be a lot of fun and allows you to create beautiful and polished images. Remember to experiment with different lighting setups, backgrounds, poses, and props to find the perfect shot. And don't forget to take advantage of post-processing to enhance your images and make them truly stand out.

Cheyenne & Joey: Legion of Honor, San Francisco https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2023/2/cheyenne-joey-legion-of-honor-san-francisco Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a post-wedding photoshoot for Cheyenne and Joey, a lovely couple who wanted to capture some fun and memorable shots in San Francisco. We decided to shoot at the Legion of Honor, a stunning location that boasts impressive architecture and iconic columns.

As soon as I arrived at the location, I knew it was going to be an exciting shoot. The building's neoclassical architecture provided the perfect backdrop for capturing the elegance and sophistication of this couple. Cheyenne and Joey arrived shortly after, and we began exploring the area to find the best spots for their photos.

We took full advantage of the Legion of Honor's stunning architecture and iconic columns, which made for some incredible portraits of the couple. They were both a joy to work with, and their natural chemistry and love for each other made it easy to capture beautiful moments. We even managed to have some fun during the shoot, with the couple playfully posing and showing off their personalities in front of the camera.

The whole experience was a joy, and I am thrilled with the final results. The photos turned out fantastic, capturing the love and connection between Cheyenne and Joey in a fun and exciting way. The beautiful backdrop of the Legion of Honor added an extra layer of sophistication to the shoot, which perfectly reflected the couple's classy style.

I feel incredibly grateful to have been a part of this post-wedding photoshoot for Cheyenne and Joey, and I'm honored that they chose me to capture this special moment in their lives. It was a wonderful experience, and I look forward to working with more couples to capture their unique love stories at stunning locations like the Legion of Honor in San Francisco.

Achieving the Perfect Professional Headshot: Tips and Tricks https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2023/1/you-have-a-professional-headshot-scheduled---how-to-prepare-for-your-shoot

Preparing for a professional headshot can be a daunting task, but with a little planning and preparation, you can ensure that your final result will accurately represent you and your professional goals.

First and foremost, it is essential to choose an outfit that is consistent with your brand or professional image. Think about the type of work you do and the message you want to convey. For example, if you are a lawyer, a suit and tie would be appropriate, while a graphic designer might opt for a more casual, creative look.

When it comes to color, stick to solid, neutral hues such as black, navy, and gray. These colors tend to be the most flattering and will help keep the focus on your face, rather than your clothes. Avoid bright colors or bold patterns as they can be distracting in a headshot.

It is also important to pay attention to the details of your outfit. Make sure your clothes are clean and wrinkle-free, and your shoes are polished. Avoid bulky or distracting jewelry, and ensure your hair is well-groomed.

Before the shoot, it's a good idea to do a test run of your outfit and makeup a day or two before. This will give you the opportunity to see how you look in the camera and make any necessary adjustments.

In addition, it's a good idea to arrive at the shoot with a few different options for outfits, so you have a variety of looks to choose from. And don't forget to bring any accessories or props that you might want to use in your headshot, such as a book or a portfolio.

Finally, it's crucial to communicate with your photographer before the shoot. A professional photographer will be able to guide you through the process and help you achieve the best possible results.

Overall, preparing for a professional headshot is all about being mindful of your image and brand, and paying attention to the details. With a little planning and preparation, you can create a headshot that accurately represents you and your professional goals.

Jennifer & Sam's Engagement Session at the Presidio and Baker Beach https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2023/1/jennifer-sams-engagement-session-at-the-presidio-and-baker-beach Jennifer and Sam's engagement session was a beautiful and romantic photo shoot held at the Presidio and Baker Beach in San Francisco. The Presidio's lush greenery and Baker Beach's soft sands provided the perfect backdrop for the couple's love to shine through. They laughed, cuddled, and played as the photographer captured their love in timeless images. When we went to Baker beach, we were unfortunately met with a thick fog that prevented us from seeing the Golden Gate Bridge. Instead, we pivoted and used the large beach rocks as a good backdrop to makeup for our location. It reminded me of the beaches and rocks of Hawaii which made the scene worthwhile. It was a magical and unforgettable experience for Jennifer and Sam, and they couldn't wait to share their stunning engagement photos with their friends and family.

What to look for in your wedding vendors as you prepare for your wedding https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2023/1/what-to-look-for-in-your-wedding-vendors-as-you-prepare-for-your-wedding

Planning a wedding can be a stressful and overwhelming process, and choosing the right vendors is an important decision that can make a big difference on your big day. Here are a few things to consider when selecting vendors for your wedding:

  1. Experience: It's important to choose vendors who have a proven track record of success in their field. Look for vendors who have been in business for a while and have experience working at weddings.

  2. Reputation: Do your research and read reviews from past clients to get a sense of the vendor's reputation. You can also ask for references from the vendor and reach out to those clients to get their perspective.

  3. Style: Make sure the vendor's style aligns with your vision for your wedding. For example, if you want a rustic, outdoor wedding, you'll want to choose vendors who have experience with that type of event.

  4. Price: It's important to have a budget in mind and choose vendors that fit within it. Don't forget to also consider any additional fees or charges that may not be included in the initial quote.

  5. Communication: Good communication is key to ensuring a successful event. Choose vendors who are responsive and easy to work with.

  6. Availability: Make sure the vendor is available on your wedding date before signing any contracts.

  7. Flexibility: Things don't always go according to plan, so it's important to choose vendors who are flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances.

By considering these factors, you can ensure that you choose the best vendors for your special day.

Top 10 Tips on Preparing for a Wedding in San Jose, California https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2023/1/tips-on-preparing-for-a-wedding-in-san-jose-california As we welcome 2023, I want to offer my top 10 tips when you start planning your wedding here in San Jose:

  1. Choose a venue: San Jose has a variety of beautiful wedding venues to choose from, including gardens, vineyards, and historic mansions. Consider what type of setting you envision for your wedding and start researching venues that match your style.

  2. Book your vendors: Once you have a venue, start booking your other vendors, such as a photographer, videographer, florist, and DJ. San Jose has a range of talented wedding professionals to choose from, so take the time to research and interview multiple options to find the best fit for you.

  3. Plan your transportation: Depending on your venue and wedding size, you may need to arrange transportation for you and your guests. Consider hiring a shuttle service or rental cars to ensure that everyone gets to and from the wedding safely.

  4. Consider the weather: San Jose can be quite warm during the summer months, so if you're planning a outdoor wedding, make sure to have plenty of water and shade available for your guests. If you're getting married during the cooler months, make sure to have blankets and heaters on hand in case it gets chilly.

  5. Take care of the legalities: Don't forget to obtain a marriage license and make sure that your ceremony is officiated by someone who is authorized to perform weddings in California.

  6. Plan your rehearsal dinner: The rehearsal dinner is a great opportunity to gather with your wedding party and close family members to celebrate and relax before the big day. Consider booking a restaurant or hosting the event at a private venue.

  7. Have a backup plan: It's always a good idea to have a backup plan in case of unforeseen circumstances, such as bad weather. Consider what you would do if your outdoor wedding had to be moved indoors, or if you had to adjust your timeline due to unexpected delays.

  8. Consider hiring a wedding planner: Planning a wedding can be a huge undertaking, especially if you're trying to do it all yourself. Consider hiring a wedding planner to help you with the logistics and ensure that everything runs smoothly on the big day.

  9. Don't be afraid to ask for help: Planning a wedding is a big job, and it's okay to ask for help from friends and family. Delegate tasks to those who are willing to pitch in, and don't be afraid to ask for advice from those who have been through the process before.

  10. Relax and enjoy: Finally, try to relax and enjoy the process of planning your wedding. It can be stressful at times, but it's important to take time for yourself and remember what the day is really about – celebrating your love and commitment to each other.

Kelly & Kevin's Wedding at Holbrook-Palmer Park https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2021/10/kelly-kevins-wedding-at-holbrook-palmer-park One of our late summer weddings of the year, we welcome the newly wed couple Kelly & Kevin Chua! Their fairy tale wedding happened in the beautiful city of Atherton inside Holbrook-Palmer Park. The site is a 22 acre recreation site that has a water tower, tennis courts, and multiple locations where events can be held. As a surprise to the couple, a horse drawn carriage delivered Kelly and her dads to the ceremony location. Their wedding party consists of 8 couples, each with their own unique and interesting personality to help celebrate the bride and groom's big day. We were lucky enough to witness the union of the couple's family and we'd like to share some of the special highlights of their wedding day. Thank you again for visiting our site and we hope you'll enjoy the memories captured that day.

Somer & Dario's Backyard Wedding in Fremont https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2021/10/somer-darios-backyard-wedding-in-fremont The day has come for Somer & Dario to have their much anticipated wedding! They had it at their gorgeous backyard which was the perfect location given that we are still in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. Despite it being a much smaller wedding, what this environment delivered was a more intimate setting with their guests. Safety protocols were followed and I would say majority, if not all of the folks were vaccinated to allow a more open environment to enjoy the celebration. I love how Somer & Dario allowed time before the wedding to take some of the more intimate photos that is usually reserved for after the ceremony. This allowed them to enjoy the reception and more time to spend with friends and family. Overall, the wedding was a success and we really enjoyed our time capturing their memories. Congratulations Somer & Dario and wishing you the best on your marriage!

Somer & Dario's Engagement in Fremont https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2021/10/somer-darios-engagement-in-fremont This was our engagement session with Somer & Dario over the summer. We wanted to highlight not only the couple, but also the beautiful sunset and rolling hills near where they lived in Fremont. This was one of our favorite locations to shoot. I love how their outfits complement the scene. We were lucky that it was a clear day without any clouds as I wanted to capture some of the sun rays that shaped the composition of our photos.

We chose a beach near the Ritz Carlton and we were lucky that the fog did not roll in. Usually, it gets really foggy in the summer time in the Bay Area. Jennifer & Sam Wedding, Fremont CA https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2021/5/jennifer-sam-wedding This was our first wedding in the middle of the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic. Despite the situation we were in, we managed to capture Jen & Sam's beautiful wedding at their friends backyard. They had to reduce their guest count from 200 down to 30 or less (including vendors). It still worked out and we made multiple trips around the east bay and drive to Antioch to visit Jen's nana who was an important influence in her life. Here are some of the shots from their wedding and the story that they told.

Christina & Nick's Wedding at the Ranch at Little Hills (San Ramon) https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2019/6/christina-nicks-wedding-at-the-ranch-at-little-hills-san-ramon The Ranch at Little Hills presented us with a unique venue to capture our next couple: Christina & Nick Roby. Located in a secluded area in San Ramon, the place had an outdoors feel with the ceremony surrounded by nature and all the elements. We were lucky to dodge rain that weekend which allowed us to capture all the beautiful spots in the location. Nick had a posse of 8 groomsmen who helped encourage him throughout the day. Christina had her 8 beautiful bridesmaids and close friends to help prepare for her special day.

Violeta and I felt privileged to capture such a gorgeous wedding from this couple. Nick's parents once served in the ministry in Hawaii and brought a taste of Aloha to their ceremony. His dad Brock helped officiate the wedding and at the same time captured an intimate selfie with them right before the wedding started.

In the evening, all their friends and family celebrated with great enthusiasm and danced the night away. The sharing from their siblings and parents was warm and heartfelt. Truly, their wedding was filled with so much love and joy from everyone that was there. This is the story of their wedding.

Sheree & Vince Wedding at the Saratoga Country Club https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2018/9/sheree-vince-wedding-at-the-saratoga-country-club Vince and Sheree got married at the beautiful Saratoga Country Club on June 30th, 2018. Violeta and I have had the privilege of capturing their beautiful wedding. Vince is a creative film guy who married Sheree who is great with kids. Though both grew up in opposite sides of the world (Taiwan & California), it was their love for one another and God was what brought them together. Their wedding was full of fun, laughter, and tears. We are happy to show a few of those moments that will be forever remembered for the rest of their lives.

Jessica & Ken's Wedding in the History Club of Los Gatos https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2018/4/jessica-kens-wedding-in-the-history-club-of-los-gatos Ken was from San Francisco and Jessica lived in San Mateo when they were dating. After a few years of building their friendship Ken decided to pop the question and proposed to Jessica to get married! When Violeta and I did their engagement session at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, I knew that there is something special about these two as we did their photos. For one, Ken loves anime and manga. He loves them so much that he even tried to learn Japanese to be able to understand it! Even in their photoshoot, him and Jessica did some "Fusion" poses that came from Dragon Ball Z.

Now on their wedding day, they got married at the History Club of Los Gatos. The weather really worked for them considering it was a February wedding. The days prior to that were rain and chilly weather. Fortunately it was a sunny day when they got married. Jessica walked down the aisle as radiant as she could be. They did a 3 cord strand to show that God, him, and Jessica are bound together in their marriage. Ken almost dropped the ring as he was about to put it on Jessica's finger. Luckily, with his quick reflexes, he was able to capture it before it fell.

We went to a nearby park to do some shots with his groomsmen and bridesmaids to get a more rustic feel for their photos. One of my favorite shots was with his groomsmen doing a dragon ball Z pose, which he took a step further from his "fusion" pose during his engagement. In the end, their vows, relationship, and the people that surrounded them that day made it a memorable and beautiful wedding. Congratulations Jessica & Ken! It was a beautiful wedding and we wish you the best on your marriage!

Kelsey & Dele's Wedding at the Martinelli Winery in Livermore https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2017/12/kelsey-deles-wedding-at-the-martinelli-winery-in-livermore It was such an honor photographing Dele and Kelsey’s wedding. This couple is the coolest couple you’ll ever meet. Their love for each other was apparent.

Dele looked sharp in his suit. When Kelsey walked down the aisle, she stunned them all, especially the groom.

It was a beautiful Fall wedding that took place at Martinelli Winery and Garre Winery in Livermore, CA. We couldn’t have asked for a better weather since it rained the night before.

The minister delivered a very inspiring message. The bride and groom had the most heartfelt vows we’ve ever heard. We even paused and just listened for a moment.

Everyone watched as they danced to Michael Jackson’s “Lady In My Life” so effortlessly. You can feel their parents’ bittersweet happiness as Dele danced with his mother and Kelsey with her father.

It was a fun night with lots of dancing. It was definitely a day to remember!

Loraine & Keenan Wedding at the Bellevue Club in Oakland https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2017/11/loraine-keenan-wedding-at-the-bellevue-club-in-oakland After meeting this beautiful couple, we thought Keenan had a quiet personality, while Loraine was just the opposite. But put them together, they are a match made in heaven!

Keenan looked like a Prince Charming in his suit and Loraine looked so elegant in her vintage dress. The Bellevue Club in Oakland was the perfect venue to have their wedding. As soon as you  walk into the Reception, you will feel like you are inside a castle’s dining room.

The bride and groom passed out Chinese cookies to all the guests. The cookies sweetens the parting of the bride from her family as she becomes part of the groom’s family.

They danced and partied all night. Everyone had a blast and so did we. What an incredible celebration of these two lives becoming one. It was such a pleasure to capture Keenan and Loraine’s wedding!

Congratulations and best wishes!

Zoe & John Wedding at Newberry Estate https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2017/4/zoe-john-wedding-at-newberry-estate We had the wonderful privilege to be part of Zoe and John Gilchrist's wedding at Newberry Estate in Brentwood. We lucked out that day as rain was in the forecast, but the sun came through for them! The place was amazing as it was within a private residence and has its very own vineyard.

They had a beautiful wedding ceremony that day. When they shared their vows to one another, I could tell how much they cared and loved each other. It was like an event long in the making! Everyone cheered and had a great time. John even performed for Zoe that night with the band with his singing. In the end, it was a memorable experience for their friends and family. We hope these photos will remind you of their joy and happiness they shared that day.

Maissa & Andrew at the Mountain Winery https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2017/3/maissa-andrew-at-the-mountain-winery I had the wonderful opportunity to capture Maissa and Andrew on their special day. The venue was at the Mountain Winery over at Saratoga. This place usually hosts concerts during the summer but is also a perfect place to have a wedding. Both the couple's families flew from different parts of the US to celebrate with them. Andrew was the last of 5 siblings to get married.  To be able to see all his siblings encourage him on was priceless! Maissa and Andrew made every face light up and smile as they shared their vows to one another. Here are some photos captured to relive that special day.

Denise & Adam's Wedding at the Island Farm https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2016/11/denise-adams-wedding-at-the-island-farm We've never met a more down to earth couple than Adam and Denise. They are just a happy couple and grateful about life but most of all each other. So when they chose us to be their wedding photographers, we were more than thrilled!

The lovely couple love the outdoors and have the utmost respect for Mother Nature. They also wanted their wedding to be intimate and to be shared only with very special people in their lives.

It was fitting that they chose The Island Farm, a private venue in San Gregorio, CA. The place was a 564 acres of land filled with very old and tall redwood trees. It was so magical that you'll feel like you were in a Fairy Tale witnessing a princess getting married to her prince. What an amazing place to be married in for this Bohemian couple!

Love was definitely evident in this wedding. Not just from the couple but from each person that was there. There were lots of dancing until the sun came down. Everyone was so grateful to be celebrating this wonderful union!

Congratulations and best wishes, Adam and Denise! May you live happily ever after!

When they were talking of where to have their engagement shoot, they both thought it would be fitting to go back to the UC Berkeley campus. They just have the funnest and easy going personalities. They help mentor the teenagers in their church and we even got some parenting advice from them. They are both amazing people individually. Put them together and they make an extraordinary couple. We look forward to their wedding in March!

He moved to California from Texas and she was originally from Boston. They both love country music and Caroline inspired Jesus to start rooting for the Boston Red Sox. They're relationship is rooted in their faith and love for each other.

They were married at the History Club of Los Gatos. Caroline looked like a princess in her wedding gown while Jesus looked charming in his suit.

Friends and families from all over gathered at this wonderful union. You can hear laughter of joy from every part of the room. Music started playing and mostly every guests were on the dance floor.

Thank you for letting us capture such a special day. We wish you both the best in your journey together.

Jessica & Jonathan at Nestldown https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2015/8/jessica-jonathan-at-nestldown Jessica and Jonathan met each other at the YMCA where they were both counselors. Jessica is obsessed with anything Disney and got Jonathan to love it too. They both enjoy nature so the venue they chose was perfect.

Nestldown is a place where you feel like you can let go of the day's worries and just have fun. It's been one of our favorite venues. It is a hidden gem and we are honored every time we get to photograph there.

Jessica looked radiant in her gown and Jonathan was dapper in his suit.
They just couldn't stop smiling beginning from when they had their "first look".

As nature lovers, they planted a tree in the pot as part of the ceremony. They had fun activities for the guests to enjoy like the giant Jenga and Jousting Sticks. When the guests looked for their table, instead of numbers, they had Disney Couples.

We wish Jonathan and Jessica all the best. Just like the tree you planted, may you grow strong in your journey together and be deeply rooted in your foundation and love for each other!

Paloma & Mario's Dream Wedding https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2015/7/paloma-marios-dream-wedding These High School sweethearts met on the campus hallways of Atherton High School. Boy thought Girl was cute, asked her out on a date and their love story began. They dated and broke up but when they found their way to each other again, they knew they were meant to be.

Paloma preserved hers and Mario's dating keepsakes. We love how wonderful memories of the past were kept safe in her scrapbook.

Mario and Paloma chose the beautiful Church Of The Nativity to have their wedding. This immaculate venue is a hidden gem in Palo Alto. The courtyard was beautifully manicured. The trees and flowers served as a gorgeous backdrop.

The Reception was held just over 2 miles away at the Garden Court Hotel. This wedding was so fun, even we were bopping our heads and doing the cha-cha discreetly. We loved the special dance number that Mario and his buddies did for Paloma. This surprised Paloma as she didn't expect this from him. They performed so well that everyone at the reception was entertained.

It was an honor to be a part of this beautiful occasion. We wish you all the best on your new journey together!

Tracey & Jeremy's Wedding at Canyon View Banquet Hall https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2015/6/tracey-jeremys-wedding-at-canyon-view These two super athletes were a match made in heaven. Jeremy plays for the Detroit Lions of the NFL and Tracey was a Division One Track and Field player at Cal Berkeley. Aside from all their accomplishments, they are super down-to-earth.

Tracey and Jeremy got married at the beautiful Canyon View in San Ramon, CA. Everything about this wedding was regal.  Tracey looked gorgeous in her off the shoulder gown while her groom Jeremy looked smashing in his white tux. The bridesmaids all looked lovely in their dark purple dresses and the groomsmen all looked handsome in their black tuxes. These lovebirds are pretty sharp when it comes to dressing up too. Jeremy went all out and wore Christian Louboutin shoes. Hey, if I was going to wear some Louboutins, it would be on the most special day of my life!

The venue was packed with friends and family. Everyone had a blast dancing and taking silly pictures in the photo booth.
What an honor it was for us to be chosen to photograph this wonderful occasion!
Congratulations and best wishes, Jeremy and Tracey!

Kendra & Remi's Peninsula Wedding https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2015/5/kendra-remis-peninsula-wedding Remi and Kendra lives in California, but their story started all the way back in High School in Seattle. It's been a long time coming but, it was worth the wait!

The Bay Area has been getting 75 degree weather even in the middle of winter. But on their wedding day, Seattle came as a guest.

California desperately need the rain so we welcomed it with gladness. It even just challenged us to be more creative. We used all the umbrellas we could find and we've never been so excited to see a puddle.

The wedding was held at the Peninsula Covenant Church in Redwood City, CA. The church was packed with friends and family. Also among those that attended were their students at school and their parents. These two are making a huge difference in these children's lives.

The Reception was held at the Church Hall. They had homemade pies and s'mores. All you can hear was laughter. Clearly, everyone was happy and excited for this extraordinary couple to finally wed and so were we!

Rustic Barn Wedding with Sarah and Ken in Pescadero Pie Ranch https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2015/3/rustic-barn-wedding-with-sarah-and-ken-in-pescadero-pie-ranch Only in California can you have a Barn wedding in January. Pie Ranch in Pescadero was the perfect venue for this rustic, down to earth, Beatles fans. Ken was dapper in his gray and blue suit and Sarah was graceful and classy in her vintage dress.

Friends and family from all over came to witness this wonderful union. You can feel the love all over the room. We were moved with emotions during the exchanging of vows and when they were dancing with their parents.

Besides that Ken and Sarah were lucky to have a 75-degree wedding in the middle of winter, they were even blessed to have a spectacular sunset.

What a wonderful wedding this was and an honor to capture. We adored the simplicity of it all. What stood out was their love overflowing for each other, their family and friends.

When you have those hard day's night and feel like the road is long and winding. Just hold each other's hand and know that the sun will come. And sometimes, you just have to let it be. All you need is love and from what we saw and heard from your vows, you'll be alright!

Congratulations and best wishes to both of you!

Arlene & Anthony's 20 Year Marriage Renewal in Paradise https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2015/1/arlene-anthonys-20-year-marriage-renewal-in-paradise What do you get when a Professional Wedding Coodinator who loves planning weddings and getting married and a Dentist who doesn't mind marrying his wife over and over again get together? A wedding every 10 years!

These 2 lovebirds have known each other since they were teenagers and they are the funnest couple you'll ever meet.

Anthony and Arlene celebrated their 20 years anniversary so this was their 2nd Vow Renewal. What better way to have it in the beautiful island of Oahu? Their 3 children, families and friends traveled from California to be a part and witness this amazing event.

The beach ceremony was held at Paradise Cove in Ko'Olina. They, together with their 3 children, danced to a custom made song "You and I Are One". Anthony and Arlene took some dance lessons and we got to watch them exit the ceremony dancing to a medley.

After the Ceremony, the guests got to eat dessert first and enjoyed a delicious chocolate cake. We all walked to the Luau to enjoy a great feast and an amazing, jaw-dropping entertainment.

The wedding ended with a gorgeous sunset! What a fun couple to photograph. Most of all, what love they have for each other! These two have been an awesome example for us of what marriage is all about which is having God in the center of it all!

Sarah & Ken's San Francisco Engagement at Fort Point https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/11/sarah-kens-san-francisco-engagement When we were planning their engagement shoot for that weekend, we were faced with the looming thought of rain during our shoot. However being in California, we needed that rain to fill up our reservoirs. Ken and Sarah wanted something industrial since their wedding next year will be in a rustic barn setting. What better place than Fort Point in San Francisco! If it did rain, we could still do their engagement session since it is a covered area. When Saturday came, it did rain but only in the morning. On our way up to the city, the sky was clear and we could see the sun illuminate every part of the city. When we met I told them that they were very lucky that the weather changed for them. Sarah said Ken always brings them luck where ever he goes (or better yet, an answered prayer!).

Here are some shots that Violeta and I worked on with Ken and Sarah. Theirs will be the first wedding we'll be capturing next year. We look forward to see what we can do for you guys on your big day in January!

Nathan & Cristy Wedding at the Fairmont San Jose https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/10/nathan-cristy-wedding-at-the-fairmont-san-jose I had the wonderful privilege to capture Nathan & Cristy's wedding at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. When I first met Nathan a while back he was only a teenager I hear was into a lot of video games. Now seeing him grow to be a man and marry the love of his life was a very enchanting event. They had a rather large wedding party composed of friends and family that they have known for years. This added to the lively character of their wedding as we captured each individual personalities of the party.

The venue was very elegant and glamorous. I really love the glass walkway between the hotel which gave us a lot of beautiful photo opportunities for Nathan and Cristy. I wanted to capture their personality being in their natural element. Both of them have a fun element to their side where doing candid shots was the way to go.  We set out to the fountains outside the hotel to get some shots with water. However it was a very crowded place. Someone even started to take a bath in the fountain as we were about to do the shoot (talk about timing).  But that didn't deter both of them from having a great time while being out there.

In the end it was great to see them start their marriage with a lot of love, laughter, and joy. Congratulations to the two of you! May you continue to grow in your love for one another in the years to come!

Michelle & Doug's Wedding in Monterey https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/9/michelle-dougs-wedding-in-monterey When Doug and Michelle asked us to photograph their wedding, we were thrilled. We've known Doug for a few years as I was one of his roommates before I got married 9 years ago.

Doug and Michelle met us at separate times for pre-wedding shots. Michelle looked stunning in her wedding dress. She is just naturally beautiful. Doug looked pretty handsome in his all gray suit and tie.

Doug and Micelle had their ceremony at Monastery Beach in Carmel. Both their parents, families and friends were so excited for both of them. Doug couldn't keep himself from being emotional as he watched his bride walk closer and closer to him.

After the ceremony, the guests drove to Rancho Canada Golf Club in Carmel where they enjoyed a buffet dinner with Sprinkles cupcakes for dessert.

Everyone had a wonderful time dancing and celebrating this much awaited union.

What a beautiful wedding to be a part of. Best wishes to you both!

Sara & Alex's Wedding at Viansa Winery https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/9/sara-alexs-wedding-at-viansa-winery Alex and Sara met 4 years ago. They both had friends who encouraged them to try online dating. They met in person after being on the site for less than a month. After that date, they both closed their account!

Alex and Sara chose to get married at the beautiful Viansa Winery in Sonoma. It was the perfect venue for them. They were surrounded by their family and friends who traveled near and far. Their "first look" was a special moment as Alex waited for Sara to come out of the wine cellar. Sarah looked stunning in her white gown while Alex looked quite dapper in a gray suit and white tie. The look on both of their faces when they saw each other was priceless.

Throughout the wedding you will see the hard work in the details that Sara (with the help of her bridesmaids) poured into it. They had pictures of themselves when they were little hanging on clothes pins. Their guest book was a puzzle. We especially liked the name tags which became the wedding favor. Sara made each one using wine corks and succulents.

They gave both their parents a quilt with their parents' wedding picture and their picture on it. Their parents, bridal party and the two of them all wrote a letter for both of them to read on their 1st, 5th and 10th year anniversary. The minister's message was heartfelt. I couldn't help but to also listen and get a couple of tips for my own marriage.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres while listening to the tunes from the guitarist. From there, they made their way to the beautiful tented hall for a delicious plated dinner.

The couple and their guests danced until the end. Even grandma was on the dance floor doing the cha-cha. Hey, it's not a Filipino wedding if there's no ballroom music.

Their love for one another was so evident and working with them was such an honor.

It truly was an amazing day!

Nathan & Cristy's Engagement, Downtown Palo Alto https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/6/nathan-cristys-engagement-downtown-palo-alto When we planned Nathan & Cristy's engagement session, we originally thought of having it in San Francisco. However we had some constraints on time so we decided to have it in downtown Palo Alto. They wanted something natural and spontaneous, so we did that as we walked around the block as the sun started to set in the horizon. We stopped by Philz coffee for a little caffeine boost with an iced mint mojito! Here are some fun times we captured with Nathan & Cristy. We look forward to your wedding in August!

Bryce & Lia's Engagement, San Francisco Embarcadero https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/6/bryce-lias-engagement-san-francisco-embarcadero Bryce is from Seattle while Lia is originally from Hawaii. Since they are having a destination wedding in Oahu in August, we thought having their engagement shoot in the city would give them the opposite feel.

The Embarcadero Center in San Francisco was just the place to do that.

Here are some of the images we took that day. Enjoy!

Heather & Alphonso's Wedding at the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/4/heather-alphonsos-wedding-at-the-allied-arts-guild-in-menlo-park Alphonso and Heather were married at Allied Arts Guild, a historic garden in Menlo Park. They were blessed with a beautiful sunny day in February while on the other side of the country, people were shoveling snow.  Gotta love California!

Alphonso and Heather were just so wonderful to work with. They are very down to earth but most of all, they are crazy in love with each other and very grateful that this day has finally come.

In every wedding that we photograph, we learn something to apply to our own marriage. As we were photographing Alphonso, he just kept on saying, "I'm lucky". And you definitely felt his gratitude as he
couldn't hold back his tears as he watched his stunning bride walked down the aisle in a strapless white gown. Her beautiful eyes mesmerized through her blusher veil.

The wedding was surrounded by friends and family. Many traveled all the way from Taiwan. Lots of laughter and tears of joy were present in this wedding.

Thank you for the privilege of capturing your special day! May your love for each other just get deeper as each years pass and no matter what life brings you.

Congratulations and best wishes!

Sara & Alex's Engagement at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/4/sara-alexs-engagement-at-the-japanese-tea-garden-in-san-francisco One of the things I love about San Francisco are the places you could go to take great pictures. It was our first time hanging out with Alex & Sara to take their engagement pictures in preparation for their wedding day. We decided to go to the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park to capture their special moments together. Even though the cherry blossoms weren't in bloom during that time, the park was green and flourishing despite the cold winter season. Also it was a crowded day at the park but we managed to get by and take some intimate photos of the two as we walked around the area. What was great was the joyful spirits Sara and Alex had during our shoot. We all had a great time walking around the park. After which we did a few stops at the De Young Museum before the sun hid behind the clouds. We were so hungry by the end of the afternoon that we all had dinner at a local Japanese restaurant that i've never been to before (Sara was amazing about finding some good eats in the neighborhood). We got to know Alex & Sara more during our dinner with them (and the great sushi made it even more enjoyable). On our last shoot, we took them to a site which Violeta and I scouted during our  previous trip and decided to share with our new friends. There they had the ultimate backdrop of San Francisco unlike any other! The weather cooperated with us and we got a gorgeous view of the city. Violeta and I are very grateful to have spent a good amount of time with Sara & Alex and we look forward to your wedding day in July 2014 over at Viansa Winery!

Devin & Kristi's Wedding at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in San Francisco https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/3/devin-kristis-wedding-at-the-julia-morgan-ballroom-in-san-francisco We had the wonderful opportunity to capture Devin & Kristi's wedding at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in San Francisco. It was a venue unlike any other which made it more special for them to tie the knot. When I walked into the ballroom, it had a really grand feel to it. There was so much detail in the walls and ceilings as well as the intricate crown moldings that made this place quite a remarkable venue to get married.

Devin and Kristi are amazing people individually but even more amazing together. They are opposite and yet compliment each other. Devin is emotionally expressive, will give the shirt off his back to someone in need and a big teddy bear. Kristi on the other hand is thoughtful, kind, giving, intelligent and competitive.

On the morning of the proposal, Devin did not have the ring yet. So, he prayed. If the ring didn't come, Devin was to wait another month to propose. His prayers were answered as the ring came in the mail that morning! Whew!

Meanwhile, Kristi thought that she was planning a birthday party for her dad but she was actually planning for her own engagement party. Sensing her stress, Devin picked her up to drive to the hill where he was going to pop the question. Kristi didn't realize it at first but it finally clicked when she saw the chairs and table with purple roses (her favorite). There, Devin read her a poem he wrote, knelt down on one knee and ask her to be his wife!

On the wedding day, all their closest friends were there to celebrate with them. It was a packed place and to see Devin and Kristi do their first kiss was quite touching. Both have grown in their relationship, not only with each other but also the other people they've impacted with their lives.

Thank you Devin & Kristi for allowing us to capture your special day. We wish you many years of happiness in your marriage!

Nick & Kim at Portofino Hotel & Marina https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2014/3/nick-kim-at-portofino-hotel-marina We both have known Kim for at least 10 years now. She is one of the people that introduced us to each other. She and Violeta also were roommates at one point.  She moved to Los Angeles and eventually met Nick years later. They are proof that opposite attracts. Nick is a health buff while Kim loves cheese on her cheese and chug it down with soda.

When Nick proposed, Kim contacted us right away to be their photographers. She couldn't see anyone else capturing their special day but us.  The ceremony was held at the First Christian Church of Torrance. You can tell they have touched many people's lives as the church was packed. You can feel everyone's love and support for the couple. It was a simple reception with a delicious cake and punch. There was a photo booth that everyone from young to old enjoyed.

After leaving the church there was a separate intimate Reception for the family and out of town guests at the beautiful Portofino Hotel and Marina at Redondo Beach. We were able to catch up and shared many laughs with each other.

We are honored to have been a part of your wedding and your lives. Here's wishing you both happiness and love. Here's to a journey filled with gratitude and grace.
When God puts two ordinary people together, they become extraordinary and you two are exactly that!

Rich & Sarah's Wedding at Nestldown https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/12/rich-sarahs-wedding-at-nestldown "Will you marry me Sarah Vaillancourt?” I smiled and said “yes!”

We've never met a more in love couple than Rich and Sarah. They first met in High school and they were immediately attracted to each other.  A lot of things happened in between. Rich moved to a couple of different states and then back to California. They both dated different people.

"I rarely prayed but I remember praying in tears asking God to send him back my way." (Sarah)

It wasn't until years later that Rich visited Sarah at work. It was clear they were both still attracted to each other. The flame reignited and spent everyday since.

"No one had loved me more and I kept picturing us old and wrinkly, falling apart together. I knew marriage isn’t easy but he’s the only one I want to fight for, probably because he’s the only one who really fought for me." (Sarah)

Nestldown was one of Sarah's favorite places. She has gone there a few times growing up so it always had a special place in her heart.
When Rich proposed, she knew exactly where she would like the wedding to be held. The wedding was beautiful with a rustic theme and we couldn't have asked for a better weather. What made this wedding is their pure love for each other and their families.

Rich and Sarah, thank you so much for teaching us to love deeply, to kiss  and to kiss often, to hold each other's hand every chance we get, to look for each other in the crowd and to dance like no one is watching!

Here's to the journey you will walk together and to the beautiful music you will write and play together!

Adelaide & Alex's Wedding at the Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/11/wedding-of-adelaide-alexander It was a privilege to be part of such a beautiful wedding for Adelaide and Alex.

Adelaide is an opinionated, caring, shy (sometimes), easily excited about science, and thinks of others before herself.

Alex is a shy, loyal, patient, kind, funny guy, and gets excited about food and cooking.

They both love cats, certain Chinese food, sushi, and science.

Their story goes way back when a mutual friend of theirs set them up on their first date. When they first met, Alex thought that Adelaide looked like a "goth" and her hair had pink tips on the end. Though he thought she was cute and smart, he wasn't digging the hair. For Adelaide, she thought Alex was talented, easy to talk to, and had a very nice smile. He looked like a total nerd and she really liked that in him.

Alex knew she was the one shortly after their first dating anniversary. He was thinking how much Adelaide is stronger in areas that he is weak in. After praying about it, he came to a decision that she was "the one" for him. For Adelaide it was a couple weeks after their first date. They were part of an Iron Chef competition and she saw how Alex was sweet and supportive towards her during that event. She thought to herself, "This is a guy who I can marry!"

Alex was so nervous when he was going to propose to Adelaide. Thankfully, his friend Tyrone helped him out with all the details. He was planning to ask her in Half Moon Bay. On their way there, she wanted to get some Starbucks which Alex thought would delay everything. So they rushed down the beach when they got to the area. He was praying so fast because he was nervous. However as soon as he knelt on his knee, time stood still and everything just worked out.

From Adelaide's perspective, she thought they were going to double with their friend Christine and Tyrone. When they got to the beach she noticed some towels and flowers on a rock but thought it was for someone else. Little that she knew that those were for them. When Adelaide noticed the flowers and Eeyore on the towels, then she knew that something was going to happen. She kept saying to herself "I can't believe this is it!" Alex read her a really sweet card. Then hearing the music in the background, she started to tear up. He got down on his knee and I said "Yes, of course!" After which she didn't remember the rest.

Their wedding took place in the Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay. It was a luxurious location overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Alex & Addy had a large wedding party composed of 8 couples.

In the end, Violeta and I captured everything we thought fit best for Alex & Addy. Here are a few highlights from that day. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Enjoy!

Cory & Aubrey's Wedding https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/11/cory-aubreys-wedding Cory and Aubrey were a match made in heaven! I had the pleasure of working with these two and it was a privilege to be part of their special day. It was a very simple wedding, but their love and fun personality made the whole event quite memorable. Aubrey was the only girl among four other brothers. Needless to say, the brothers were quite protective of her. However Cory was the only one that won her heart! They first met at the back of church where there was a bone marrow testing station to see if they were compatible to donate. They were the only ones at the table and Cory made a joke saying that he hoped that not brushing his teeth that day won't mess up the results. This made Aubrey laugh which elated Cory to think that someone would laugh at his comments. From there, their relationship started to grow.

Cory is a fun laid back guy who enjoys the outdoors. Aubrey is a loving and caring friend. When combined, they are a strong couple who loves God and gives inspiration to other people. Their relationship started from Cory not originally wanting to go on a date to having the most memorable time with Aubrey after he got to know her. Their wedding day was full of laughter and enjoyment because of the people they have in their lives. Enjoy some of these highlight photos from their special day.

David & Margo's Wedding at Thomas Fogarty Winery https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/7/david-margos-wedding-at-thomas-fogarty-winery Whenever I think of wineries, I see the grapevines of Napa and Sonoma. However there is one place in the Peninsula area that is just as gorgeous as the vineyards up north - Thomas Fogarty Winery. This was the place our lovely couple David & Margo got married!

They first met at work at a small scientific camera operation where her father introduced David to Margo. She recalled that when they first shook hands, she felt an electric shock travel through her. "How would you describe David?" I asked Margo. "I thought he was extremely handsome, cheerful, and a force to be reckoned with." She had an instant connection with him.

David proposed to Margo at their friends home in Tiburon among friends. It totally caught Margo off guard and it was the biggest surprise of her life. Margo saw the most beautiful ring in David's hand and she lost her voice, but managed to say "Yes!" It was like a dream come true for her as they shared that special moment with their good friends.

With that they shared the most beautiful wedding on June 29, 2013. Despite it being a very hot day, it brought out a lot of joy and happiness to the couple and their friends. We could see San Francisco 45 miles away. It was that clear. They had an amazing band perform called "Pure Ecstasy" by Preston Turner. I have to say - they really rocked the house! Everyone had a great time during the dances, cake cutting, and bouquet toss. The amazing flowers were done by Twig & Petals. That day we also experienced an amazing sunset by the vineyard and we tried to capture that in their wedding. Here are a few highlights from that day that Violeta and I photographed for their story.

Sarah & Rich's Engagement https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/7/sarah-richs-engagement When I think about Sarah & Rich, I see a couple who is madly in love with each other. These two have known each other since High School. They took us to a magical place in the woods of Saratoga to do their engagement shoot. Normally we choose a place that we are familiar with to get a sense of the area. But in their case we trusted that what they chose would work well for them. And it did! It was a hidden gem that had a lot of trees and small waterfalls in the side. This was where they had their first kiss - which even made it more special. Though it was a short hike to get to, it was well worth it. Here are a few highlights from that day that we captured for this lovely couple. We look forward to their wedding day in September!

Wedding of Ben & Barbara at Paradise Ridge Winery https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/7/wedding-of-ben-barbara-at-paradise-ridge-winery We had the privilege of capturing Ben and Barbara's wedding. This wedding was full of love from each other, families and special meanings.

Elim Lutheran Church where the ceremony was held had a very place in Ben's heart. Both his grandparents and parents were married there. He knew that when it was time for him to get married, that is where he was going to say his vows.

The red barn also had a significant meaning. Ben spent a lot of his childhood there visiting his grandmother and families.
It was very special to witness the "first look". When they saw each at each other, they couldn't help but cry. You could just feel the love and the gratitude they have for each other.

The reception was fun and was filled with laughter and joy as they danced the night away to Ring of Fire and Dancing Queen.

Here's to the new memories Ben and Barbara will make together and to the journey they will travel together!

It was a pleasure to photograph their wedding. Here are a few pictures we captured from that day.

Linda Zimmerman from Champagne Wishes was the wedding coordinator that day.

Wedding of Jeff & Krissy https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/6/wedding-of-jeff-krissy My wife and I had a fantastic time being a part of Jeff & Krissy's wedding in Monterey. It was a spectacular day at the beach an the weather was great throughout the evening. These two met online and became the perfect match for each other. They told me that their first and most memorable date was on a tour of the MillerCoors Brewery, along with a nice romantic dinner and improve comedy show. The funny thing was this all happened during a blizzard. Krissy thought about rescheduling but Jeff felt that a simple blizzard is not going to ruin their night together. When Krissy met him she thought, "Whoa, this guy is tall!" But then she realized he was a sweet and kind gentleman from within.

I asked, how did you know Jeff was "The One?"

"I’m not sure there was a definitive moment but it was within the first few months.  When I had to go out of state for a clinical rotation in Montana, it was definitely the point where both of us knew together that we wanted to be together for good."

How did Jeff propose?

"Jeff, being so tall, was grabbing something off the floor behind the tv, stood up and hit his head on a shelf.  I told him to sit down while I took the dog out for a walk.  When I came back he had a bunch of candles lit, and was down on one knee.  He then reenacted it exactly one year later (minus the concussion)."

And that day finally happened when they tied the knot on May 26, 2013 in Bird Rock near Pebble Beach. We all took the trolley that transported the wedding party from Carmel Valley to the ceremony site. Krissy's brother, Andrew, was playing the ukulele as guests were coming into the ceremony. What was also unique about their wedding was they took turns exchanging their personal vows to each other.  That moment was precious.

Krissy has a shy personality, but once she gets to know you she can get lively. On one side she is introverted, creative, and artistic - and on the other a very passionate rugby player. She created most of the detail pieces for their wedding. Jeff is a tall guy with a big, warm heart. I can see why he's so likable and that they were a match made for each other.

Now they are starting a new life here in California as they moved away from Colorado. Here are a few photo highlights from their wedding day that showcased their love for each other. Enjoy!

Briones Family in Half Moon Bay https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/5/briones-family-in-half-moon-bay My aunt Delza has been battling pancreatic cancer since January of this year. She had undergone a few major surgeries to help control and eradicate the cancer. She was in remission for a few months. Recently the cancer came back and she has been treated with the most potent form of chemotherapy to help slow down its growth. She just came out of treatment that Sunday when we did their family photo shoot. Her kids wanted to encourage and capture some of the intimate moments together as a family. We walked around the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay to capture their time together.  I have to say that Delza is a fighter, faith builder, and very persevering despite the circumstance. She really is an inspiration to us all when we face our own Goliath (which is cancer in her case). In the end we hope and pray that the cancer will go away completely.  Here are some of those precious moments the family had together that afternoon.

Alex & Adelaide Engagement Shoot in San Francisco https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/5/alex-adelaide-engagement-shoot-in-san-francisco Violeta and I had the privilege of photographing Alex and Adelaide's engagement in San Francisco. We were quite excited to do it in San Francisco because of the countless opportunity this beautiful city offers. Our first point of interest was Fort Point underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. We drove from Mountain View thinking it was going to be warm and sunny. However, the climate in the city was cold and windy. We then drove down to the Palace of Fine Arts to capture the architecture of this iconic landmark. Here are a few highlights from that day. We look forward to their big day on August 10, 2013!

Mike & Amy's Wedding https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/4/mike-amys-wedding What a way to kick of the spring season with Mike & Amy's wedding! My wife and I had to opportunity to be able to be part of their special event. One of the things we loved about their wedding were the relationships that they've built in making this special day a memorable one. Right next to their wedding site was an apricot orchard with a rustic barn waiting to be used. The laughter and tears of joy was over flowing that day. Here's a snapshot of some of the highlights from their big day.

Violeta and I had a great time just getting to know them as well as provide them with some unique photo opportunities that we've never done with our clients before. When they got married last February, we were excited to be a part of their special day. Tami has been a great baker and has been very creative in her work. They both love Disneyland which also became part of the decor of the wedding. Here are some of their memorable moments from their special day.

Chad's Senior Portrait https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/1/chads-senior-portrait Chad is a shy guy who loves his skateboard. We wanted something for his senior shoot to reflect he personality and at the same time make it unique to him. We were at Vasona park when we did this shoot during the fall. We probably worked Chad out as he rode his skateboard throughout the shoot. Take a moment to check out some of the shots we were able to capture that day.

Bruno Family at Mountain Winery https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/1/bruno-family-at-mountain-winery

One of my favorite families to photograph. Every year we try to think of different locations to capture their special time together. This year we went to Mountain Winery to combine architecture and the fall colors. We lucked out as the sun shone through the sky despite the rainy forecast.  I didn't know a lot of wineries existed in the south bay thinking that most of them would be in the Napa or Sonoma area. However I was proved wrong when I found this location for them. This place hosts concerts and bands during the summer season. In the fall the amphitheater is open to the public so we were free to walk around the grounds without any issue. Towards the end, we all had a great time and experience. They had one of their photos mounted in a gallery canvas which captured the memory they experienced that day.

Garcia Family Photoshoot https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/4/garcia-family-photoshoot Here is one family who likes to have fun. Danny's wife Laura is my son's preschool teacher at Hope Technology School. They have two beautiful daughters who love flowers and are adorable in front of the camera. We did this shoot in Palo Alto for their holiday portraits. We had a lot of fun capturing these moments for them. Here are some of our favorites from that day.

Rob & Tanya's Wedding https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/4/rob-tanyas-wedding A simple birthday party that transformed itself to an intimate wedding. If Mark Zuckerberg can pull one off, so can Rob & Tanya! They surprised their friends and family that were there to originally celebrate Rob's birthday. At the middle of the event, they announced that they are getting married that day. However, this was no ordinary wedding! They had their kids be part of their wedding and shared a children's book that expressed their love for one another. Thanks Rob & Tanya for allowing me to capture your special day! Wishing both of you happiness and blessings in your marriage!

Mei & Phil's Wedding https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/4/mei-phils-wedding Overlooking the mountains of Carmel was a wedding so beautiful and intimate like Mei & Phil's big day. These two were one of the most fun and encouraging couple i've worked with. It was an intimate wedding where everyone who attended had a special relationship with them. The estate that they rented was absolutely magnificent, with a great view overlooking Carmel Valley. The next day we went to downtown Carmel to photograph the second half of their wedding, this time focusing only on the couple. I love downtown Carmel because of its unique look and it being so close to the beach. I had to be careful as the white sand along this coast is one of the finest in the world. Great to hold and look, but bad for my cameras :). We ended our shoot along the pacific ocean around noon. Thanks Phil & Mei for a wonderful time at your wedding. It really was a blast capturing your special day with all your family and friends!

Andrew & Natasha's Wedding https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/4/andrew-natashas-wedding My wife and I always wanted to capture a barnyard wedding. This was the closest one we were able to get. One of our dear friends got married at Hidden Villa in Los Altos and we were so happy to capture their special moment that day. There is something so alluring with this rustic location that it complemented Andrew & Natasha quite well. Their wedding party was a blast to work with as they not only had fun but also displayed some of their quirky personalities. My wife also made some props that we used toward the end of the wedding. We thought it might be a great addition to make photographing the guests more fun (and it showed with their priceless expressions). Congratulations Andrew & Natasha! We wish you the very best in your marriage and we hope you'll have many more years of bliss together!

John & Martha's Wedding https://www.raysyphotography.com/blog/2013/4/john-marthas-wedding If there was any couple that loves to party, have fun, and "boogie," its John and Martha. This was one of the largest wedding parties i've covered. Each person in the group added a unique personality to their wedding. Not only was it beautiful, but also fun, theatrical, and impromptu. The MC of the reception did a great job entertaining the audience. During the toasts, the best man and maid of honor shared some interesting and intimate stories about John and Martha that was unforgettable. I was glad and honored to be part of their special day. Enjoy this small preview of photos from their big day at Stanford.
